Kidderminster College vocational art and design programmes are offered across a range of disciplines, including fine art, 3D, graphic design, textiles and photography. The will allow you to explore your creativity, learn new techniques and specialise in an area of your choice.

Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (Health Studies)

Course Content

This course will provide a vocationally-specific qualification that allows learners to practice in a variety of Health and Social Care settings. The course will equip learners with a broad basis of basic skills and knowledge that can be transferred to many employment areas in Health or Social Care or allow progression on to Higher Education. This will include mandatory units:



  • Developing Effective Communication

  • Equality, Diversity & Rights

  • Health, Safety & Security Sociological Perspectives

  • Development Through The Life Stages

  • Anatomy & Physiology

  • Personal & Professional Development

  • Psychological Perspectives

Section: Hair, Beauty, Holistic and Health & Fitness Therapies
Progression routes: Successful completion could allow learners to progress onto a range of courses at Higher Education, for example, nursing, social work, undergraduate degrees e.g. Psychology, Health Studies. Various careers within the Health and Social Care environment.
Duration: Two years full-time
Entry requirements: One of the following: BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care at high merit/distinction. Four GCSEs grade A-C, one must be English Language. Potential learners will also be interviewed to assess their suitability for a career in care. Appropriate CRB clearance.
Interview required: Yes. Plus reference and CRB clearance.
Fee: If you are aged 19+ a fee may be payable - please check with Learner Services
Additional costs / materials required: CRB payment. Other costs to be advised at interview. Uniform for placement and course textbook.

Examinations / assessment: The course is assessed through work experience and a range of methods to include assignments, portfolios and practical tasks. All units are assessed either internally or externally via written and practical assignments.
