These courses are ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in the Art & Design field. Kidderminster College vocational art and design programmes are offered across a range of disciplines, including fine art, 3D, graphic design, textiles and photography. The will allow you to explore your creativity, learn new techniques and specialise in an area of your choice.

Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Outdoor Adventure

Course Content

The course will enable learners to achieve a Diploma which is equivalent to 2 A-Levels and typically covers the following topic areas:



  • Principles of anatomy and physiology in sport

  • The physiology of fitness

  • Assessing risk in sport

  • Fitness training and programming

  • Leadership in sport

  • Principles and practices in outdoor adventure

  • Equipment and facilities for outdoor and adventurous activities

  • Skills for land-based outdoor and adventurous activites

  • Skills for water-based outdoor and adventurous activities

  • Outdoor and adventurous expeditions

  • Planning and leading sports activities

  • Injury in sport

Jobs and Careers

A variety including Activity and Outdoor Instructors, Expedition Leaders, Camp Managers, Outdoor Education Instructors and opportunities to specialise in activity instruction such as watersports, archery, climbing, expedition leading etc.

Progression routes: Could allow you to progress onto higher education opportunities within the Outdoor Adventure sector.  An option to top up to an Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science or Public Services is available.  Continue onto NGB Outdoor Instructor Training qualifications.
Duration: One year full time
Entry requirements: 4 GCSEs at grades A-C, preferably in English and Maths or an equivalent related qualification. An interest in outdoor and sporting activities is essential.
Interview required: Yes
Fee: If you are aged 19+ a fee may be payable - please check with Learner Services.
Additional costs / materials required: Yes, for residential visits/trips and registrations for enrichment qualifications. Course specific polo shirt, gym kit and outdoor activity kit. Residential visits, trips and registrations for enrichment qualifications.
