These courses are ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in the Art & Design field. Kidderminster College vocational art and design programmes are offered across a range of disciplines, including fine art, 3D, graphic design, textiles and photography. The will allow you to explore your creativity, learn new techniques and specialise in an area of your choice.

Level 2 RSL Diploma for Music Practitioners

Course Content

The music industry demands a large, professionally skilled workforce. This course aims to help learners obtain a flexible, vocationally relevant suite of popular music qualifications to develop the skills, knowledge and attitude required to carve a successful career within today's rewarding yet competitive music industry. Learners will be able to benefit from experienced tutors who have already achieved in the industry, such as course leader Kevin Gammond who, with ex-Led Zeppelin front man Robert Plant, has a successful career that spans decades. The MAS Records support network for the course has evolved via many new initiatives spearheaded by tutors Scott Garrett and Andrew Houston, including promotions at SXSW, the world's largest music conference, which is held in the USA; visits from top music industry speakers, such as Martin Atkins from Columbia College, Chicago; and monthly live events at the O2 Academy in Birmingham. Course content will cover:

Jobs and Careers

A variety of career opportunities exist within the growing worldwide marketing and distribution systems on which the entertainment industry relies. Specific roles include the management of artists, the management of a record company, tour production, record distribution and music journalism.

Progression routes: Successful completion could allow you to progress onto these courses: Higher level courses in music management and related fields, including Higher National Diploma or BA (Hons) Degree courses in Music Industry Management.
Duration: One year full time
Entry requirements: Candidates of all calibres will be considered as there are optional study levels (1-3). Mature learners and those with substantial supporting evidence of experience will be considered on an individual basis. Preference given to candidates already part of a band.
Interview required: Yes (with audition).
