Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Health and Social Care
Course Content
A broad base of skills and knowledge that introduce the learner to the core values of employment in a range of health and social care settings. This will include mandatory units:
- Communication
- Individual Rights
- Individual Needs
- Ensuring Safe Environments
And four other units:
- Vocational Experience
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Human Lifespan Development
- Creative and Therapeutic Activities
Learners will have the opportunity of developing practical skills in the work environment through appropriate health and social care placements.

Employment in some health and social care settings.

| Progression routes: | A high merit/distinction grade could allow learners to progress onto a range of courses at Level 3. |
| Duration: | One year full-time |
| Entry requirements: | One of the following: 4 GCSEs at D grade or above (English must be one) or a BTEC Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care (Distinction). |
| Interview required: | Yes. Plus reference and CRB clearance. |
| Fee: | If you are aged 19+ a fee may be payable - please confirm with Learner Services. |
| Additional costs / materials required: | CRB payment. Learners will also need smart black trousers and flat black shoes for placement. A college polo or sweatshirt is also required for placement. Learners will need a large portfolio folder with dividers and individual unit folders/wallets. A course text book is essential. |

| Examinations / assessment: | All units are assessed either internally or externally via written and practical assignments. A wide range of assessment methods are used including work experience, portfolios, case studies and practical tasks. |
