Level 1 VTCT Diploma in Hairdressing VRQ
Course Content
You will participate in client sessions, where you will develop advanced skills in a range of practical treatments which may include the following:
- Cutting
- Shampooing and conditioning hair
- Styling hair using drying/setting techniques
- Permanent waving and neutralising hair
- Changing hair colour
- Promoting additional products
- Advice and consultation
- Developing and maintaining effective team work
- Supporting Health and Safety in the salon
Functional Skills will be incorporated in the programme.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to attend workshops and demonstrations from visiting companies e.g. Tigi, Steiner etc. which will provide you with additional training and product knowledge.
Jobs and Careers
On completion of the qualification you can work in a hairdressing salon as a junior helping and assisting role.

| Examinations / assessment: | Your practical skills will be assessed throughout the course in a commercial setting in the salon. Your underpinning knowlege (theory) will be tested through a variety of external written tests, oral questioning and written assignment work. |
