These courses are ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in the Art & Design field. Kidderminster College vocational art and design programmes are offered across a range of disciplines, including fine art, 3D, graphic design, textiles and photography. The will allow you to explore your creativity, learn new techniques and specialise in an area of your choice.

Level 1 Diploma in Automotive Refinishing

Course Content

Learners will gain a good grounding in the skills and knowledge required to work in the Automotive Refinishing industry and the theory and practical aspects of the following



  • Interpreting vehicle technical information

  • Basic vehicle preparation

  • Vehicle refinishing materials, tools and equipment

  • Vehicle paint application and minor defect rectification


Learners also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.

Jobs and Careers

The programme provides the opportunity to develop a good basic knowledge and practical skills that will be essential in entering the Motor Vehicle industry.

Progression routes: Could allow you to progress onto Level 2 within Automotive Refinishing or other qualifications in related fields.
Duration: One year full time
Entry requirements: There are no formal entry requirements, however a reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy, a suitable level of  general education and an appropriate refernce will be required, along with enthusiasm for the trade.
Interview required: Yes.
Fee: If you are aged 19+ a fee may be payable. Please check with Learner Services.
