These courses are ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in the Art & Design field. Kidderminster College vocational art and design programmes are offered across a range of disciplines, including fine art, 3D, graphic design, textiles and photography. The will allow you to explore your creativity, learn new techniques and specialise in an area of your choice.

Level 5 HND Urban and Electronic Music Production

Course Content

The course, which is run in conjunction with the University of Worcester, is a practically focused, creative music programme that will develop learners’ music production skills and expertise to industry standard.


Learners will develop an array of music creation techniques, including studio production practices, audio manipulation, remixing, music for media, sound creation and sampling techniques, mixing and audio mastering skills, plus a deep understanding of the music industry within a contemporary context.


Learners will use Apple Mac computers plus a variety of music software including Logic Pro within our iMac Music Production Suites. Akai’s MPC range of samplers will also be used, alongside other hardware from manufacturers such as Korg, Alesis and Focusrite.


Generally, the course is aimed at learners with a background or interest in Electronic-based music such as Drum & Bass, Hip Hop, House, Dubstep, R&B and Electronica, who wish to work in the Music industry.


Learners will use fully sound proofed, acoustically treated recording studios and will be offered a rich program of co-curricular activities, such as guest lecturers, seminars and study visits to London, New York and Barcelona in order to broaden learners’ learning and career development.


HND UEM learners can also develop DJ skills using Technics 1210s turntables, Serato Scratch Live, Pioneer CDJs and Pioneer mixers.
