Electrotechnical Installation

These courses are ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in the Art & Design field. Kidderminster College vocational art and design programmes are offered across a range of disciplines, including fine art, 3D, graphic design, textiles and photography. The will allow you to explore your creativity, learn new techniques and specialise in an area of your choice.

City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Electrotechnical Technology.

Course Content

The course is designed to enable learner who wish to start or advance in a career as an electrician and progress to qualified electrician status. Successfully completion of this qualification requires learners to undertake work experience within an electrical setting. During your study you will cover the following areas:
• Health & Safety legislation.
• Environmental legislation.
• Practices and procedures for overseeing and organising the
work environment.
• Principles of planning and selection for the installation
of electrotechnical equipment and systems.
• Practices and procedures for the preparation and installation
of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment.
• Cable termination.
• Inspection and testing.
• Fault finding.

Jobs and Careers

This qualification is now the preferred prescribed route for those wishing to become fully qualified electricians and fits within the apprenticeship framework.

Progression routes: Could allow you to progress onto the following courses: Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations City & Guilds 2392.Certificate in the Requirements of Electrical Installations City & Guilds 2382.
Duration: Two years full-time
Entry requirements: 4 GCSEs at Grade A-C, preferably in English and Maths and a Science or an equivalent qualification.
Interview required: Yes
